erica & kieran, strawberry farms, irvine

Erica & Kieran…you guys rock!  From our first meeting, to the marathon of an E-Session, and finally, the big day…I couldn’t of asked for a better couple! Let’s see, what makes them awesome? How about the fact that they’re High School sweethhearts? Or their great sense of humor? How about simply the fact that they’re so easy going?! Although, we did have an awkward moment with a tire swing. No need to elaborate, but Erica & Kieran…you guys know what I’m talking about! Check out some of the images from their beautiful Wedding at Strawberry Farms Golf Course. A big thanks to the staff at Strawberry Farms. As always, you guys make working with you a pleasure!

Thank you guys for allowing us to be a part of your day! Honestly, you guys made us feel as though we were guests…not vendors. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you guys. No matter what though, I know that you’ll be smiling and holding hands! Want to check out more from their Wedding? Click here!

Feny & Dan, Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel

Hello friends! Yes, I’ve been neglecting the blog, but I’ve got good reason. Actually, there’s not really a good reason for neglecting the blog, so, I’ll re-phrase. We’ve been crazy busy with work.  A good thing, but bad because it’s taken time away from updating.  Ok, on to the good stuff…Feny & Dan! What’s there to really say other than…they’re awesome.  I know that word gets overused and exaggerated, but honestly, they’re awesome! I’m not at liberty to mention where they met, so, we’ll head straight to the Wedding part:)Their Wedding took place at the beautiful Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. Very few words define luxury like “Ritz Carlton.” That place is truly amazing, but the thing I think that makes it a great Hotel is the staff. This Venue holds a special place in our hearts. For those who don’t know, this is where Mezzi and I got engaged. Four years ago this September, we stayed there for Mezzi’s birthday.  We had dinner at the Gazebo, I proposed, she said yes, and the rest is history.  So, it was great getting a chance to come back. Now, what makes the staff there so amazing?  Well, for starters, when Mezzi and I checked in four years ago, everyone…I mean everyone, knew what my plans were.  Don’t ask me how they knew, but they did! Not to worry, no one let the cat out. The simplest thing you can do to make someone feel welcomed? Use their names! EVERYONE there called us by name. Once again…don’t know how they knew. The next day after we got engaged…EVERYONE congratulated us as we walked around the Hotel.  Now, I’m not just talking about the Front Desk, or the Concierge…even the gardening crew knew! We’re not big-wigs, so, I can imagine that they do this for all their guests.  So, to me, that’s what makes this place amazing! The Ocean views aren’t bad either though.:)

Ok, isn’t this post suppose to be about Feny & Dan? Yes, I’m getting to it…keep your pants on! Check out some of the images from their beautiful Wedding:

I know this has been mentioned before, but I’ll say it again.  Get an Engagement Session!  It’s such a great opportunity to not only get some images, but more importantly, it give us a chance to get better acquainted with our Clients. So, when the day of the Wedding comes…we show up, high five the Bride and Groom…and then rock’n roll! Yes, that sounds cheese, but it’s soooo true! Theres no awkward “getting to know each other” feeling.  Just think of the E-Session as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd dates! So, when we arrived that day, I think everyone felt right at home. There’s quite a bit of emotion going on the day of…so, the more comfortable we can make you, the more relaxed you’ll be, and the more natural the images can be. Feny made a beautiful Bride, so, it made our jobs a bigger breeze than usual. That combined with the fact that she was abnormally calm…considering.:)It was great!  We talked, joked, and had a great time!
Alright, here’s a question…what’s the politically correct word for describing the elderly?  Is saying “elderly” ok?  What about “old” or “older?” Seniors? Well, whatever the word is, I love photographing them! You never quite know what you’re going to get from them. When you think they’re going to be reserved…they end up being party animals…or vice versa. Feny & Dan’s Grandfather looks amazing. He just recently celebrated his 90-something birthday! Man…I only want to live that long if I can look as good in a tux as he did!
The Ritz provides a beautiful backdrop for images. Honestly, you can pretty much grab shots anywhere on the property! Add in an awesome couple like Feny & Dan…and you’ve got yourself a keeper! Well, at least I think so. Why I love this image…that smile on Feny’s face kind of says it all about the day.  Nothing, I mean nothing…beats a smile from the heart. Yes, that sound cheese.  Most folks tend to be their toughest critics, but if they only could see what we see in them when they truly…I mean truly…smile. Yea, you might think your nose crinkles funny, or you get cross-eyed, or you’ve got something in your tooth, or heck, god forbid you’ve got a zit. Not to worry! Ok, maybe having something in your teeth isn’t good, but it sure would be funny:)

After a beautiful Ceremony and Reception, what’s left? Here’s to wishing Feny & Dan a lifetime…maybe 90-something years of a healthy and prosperous life with each other. Thank you guys for allowing us to be a part of your day. I think it’s only fitting to end with this image…reflecting about their lives to come…overlooking the Pacific! See ya!

Diane and James OC Engagement Session

Hi Everyone!  It’s been a busy few weeks, but a great kind of busy. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of going on a Engagement Session with Diane and James.  Can I just say, they did an awesome job!  Honestly, some times this job is just too easy. Only sometimes though!:) This just happened to be one of those times.  Usually, sessions don’t last 5 hours, but honestly, the time flew by so quick, before we knew it…it was dark. Mezzi finally had to call and check in on me to see that I was alright!

Diane and James are a fantastic couple. Super down to Earth and super down for anything that was asked of them.  Check out some the images from their Session…Diane’s a natural in front of the camera.  She can pull off every look! From sweet and innocent…to gangsta!:)

Walking along Laguna Beach is great! There’s so many little nooks and crannies to shoot at.  Basically, walk…stop…shoot.  That’s the approach we usually take.  It gives everyone a great opportunity to talk, joke, and pretty much warm up. You see…they warmed up pretty good if I don’t say so myself.

Shady Canyon is gorgeous when the flowers bloom. I wished it looked like this year round. I’ve been here when it’s dry and and brown, trust me, yellow and green are much better. It’s funny how these kind of places are right in our backyard, you just have to look for them. I love living in SoCal!!

If you’re getting married, and you’ve got a Photographer…make sure you do an Engagement Session.  Seriously, its an awesome opportunity for everyone to get to know each other. When the day of the Wedding comes, there’s no initial moments of awkwardness.  When there’s no awkwardness, what do you get?  Great images! Just my humble opinion.
I’m so thankful to have  Clients as chill as Diane and James. They couldn’t of done a better job. Thanks Diane and James!  Here’s a link to the rest of the images from their shoot: www.hueybui.com/Huey/DianeJames

Cheers,

fabulous fab-foto wedding!

This past weekend was fantastic! I love doing fab-foto! We had the pleasure of working for Joyce and Javad at their beautiful Reception at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach. I only wished that had some images of the Cocktail area and ballroom.  Words don’t do it justice how beautiful it was there. However, you can check out the beautiful couple and their guests having a blast with us though.

Even the Wedding’s photographers found a moment to stop and have some fun with us. It’s always cool to see how other photographers work. I’ve come to realize that photography is just like photoshop…there’s at least fifty ways of doing something.

Not to worry, she’s not really drunk. This is something we staged. She was trying to get an image that would get her boyfriend’s attention, I don’t know about you, but this would probably get my attention if this was my girl!

Congratulations Joyce and Javad…thanks for having us! Here’s to a fantastic future together! Have a great week everyone!

Oli’s First…

The original goal was to post something new weekly…and in the first week, I failed!  Ok, but in my defense, I’ve got a good if not great excuse…I was sick!  Not just sniffle sniffle sick…but I’m talking in bed for a week sick!  About every couple of years, knock on wood, I come down with the motha of all colds / flus! Here’s how the last week went…sleep…Nyquil…sleep…repeat.  However, I’m alive now baby and I’m ready to kick some tail.  Actually, I got better just in time for Oli’s 1st Birthday Party.  Oh, just in case y’all don’t know…her name’s not really Oli.  It’s Olivia, but being the keyboard shortcut lover that I am…O-l-i just seemed a simple way of doing it.  Two syllables vs four…and there you have it.  Before you ask…it’s not the name of the dog from Garfield…that’s Odie, I think? Next time…I’ll explain why Mezzi’s name is Mezzi.:)

Big ups’ to Mezzi and the crew for putting it together.  They did a fantastic job!  A huge thanks goes out to all our family and friends that helped put the party together.  We couldn’t of done it without you guys.  Before I forget, make sure you check out  Final Touch Bakery (http://www.finaltouchbakery.com/). Stephanie from Final Touch made this awesome Honey Pot cake for Oli.  Why?  Cause home girl loves Tigger and Pooh.  Oli that is…not Stephanie.  Thanks for doing an awesome job Stephanie!

It’s amazing how a year has gone by so fast.  Yeah yeah…everyone says that, but no, seriously, it’s been blazing fast this past year!  She’s grown quite a bit and we’ve all loved every minute of it.  Thank goodness for cameras and camcorders!  Oh, question for everyone…who do you think Oli looks more like?  Mezzi..or me?  Everyone seems to think it’s me, but honestly, I see quite a bit of Mezzi in her.

Check out the Centerpiece and Cake…I loved it!  Oh, bad news though, we think Oli might be allergic to dairy, but we’re hoping not.  After eating some frosting off a cupcake, she broke out all over her face.  We’re going to be testing that theory, so, let’s hope she isn’t allergic…that’d be bummer!  Think of all the stuff you would miss out on!  Cookies and milk?  Cake?  Ice Cream?  Butter? Oh, and Cake again!

So, 1 year and two small teeth later…here’s our girl!  Ain’t she awesome?!  And I ain’t just saying that cause she’s mine either:)

Alrighty..I promise I’ll keep up with the posts from now on.  There’s a lot of work to get done and I can’t wait to share more of it with you guys.  Till then, Happy Birthday Oli!  Thanks to our friends and family for coming out to celebrate with us.
